Our new spiritual home at the Murray Theater is bringing many new people who are seeking the nourishment and life transformation so many of us have found at Unity Spiritual Center. As we commit to being "A Light in the Center of the Valley", we have ever increasing needs for more volunteers to insure that both first time visitors and long time members feel welcomed and loved each Sunday morning. Please prayerfully consider this list of our ministries and let us know where you are committed to serve.

Bookstore Ministry
I would like to serve in the bookstore.

In our new church home we have a wonderful space dedicated completely to our bookstore and its treasures.  The Bookstore ministry answers questions, helps to ring up sales during the hours when the bookstore is open, and is a warm and loving presence to people visiting our bookstore.

Building and Grounds Ministry
I would like to serve in the building and grounds.

This ministry helps to maintain a welcoming environment at Unity Spiritual Center through general care and maintenance of the building and grounds.  Includes general cleaning of the sanctuary, youth center, bookstore, café and offices; upkeep of the Peace Garden; maintenance of equipment and the building.

Supreme Bean Café Ministry
I would like to serve in the Supreme Bean Café.

Our Cafe Ministry has the responsibility of running our new Café before and after services. They are responsible for the procurement and preparation of refreshments sold in the Café, the serving of the refreshments, and clean up. Positions include both weekly managers and workers.

Computer Ministry
I would like to serve with computers.

This is a ministry for people who enjoy working at computers and have good skills they are willing to share.  These people assist the office staff in setting up new computer programs, working on the web site and other computer tasks.

Fund Raising Ministry
I would like to serve in fund raising.

Develops and nurtures on-going financial support for the operation and growth of church facilities (including focused capital campaigns).  Help brainstorm fund-raising ideas, organize and spear head various projects.  These may also be people interested in approaching others outside our Unity family (neighborhood businesses) about participation in the Murray Theater Restoration project.

Hospitality Ministry
I would like to serve in hospitatality.

This ministry is responsible for setting up for classes and workshops at the church, assisting the teacher in class registration and preparations just prior to the class.

Loving Hands Ministry
I would like to serve with loving hands.

This ministry gets the bulletins and inserts ready for the Sunday service and other special events. 

Loving Hearts Ministry
I would like to serve in outreach with loving hearts.

This ministry reaches out to the Unity Spiritual Center family by visiting the sick and shut-ins, sending cards to honor special events and encouraging those facing special challenges.  This ministry will provide or help in finding transportation to church or medical appointments for church family members in need of such help. In addition, this ministry is in charge of Unity's outreach programs to people outside the Unity family.

Office/Administration Ministry
I would like to serve in the office.

This ministry assists the office staff by volunteering in office hours to answer phones, make copies, do data entry or other typing, label and sort letters for bulk mailings and other tasks needed by the office staff to ensure the smooth running of our facility.

Phillip's Angels Ministry
I would like be one of Phillip's Angels.

Phillip's Angels are individuals who are available during the week, during office hours, to help work on some of Phillip's projects.  This requires keyboard and computer skills, enjoyment of reading and clerical skills.

Prayer Ministry
I would like to serve in the prayer ministry.

This ministry provides prayer support to our church family.  They pray over prayer requests that go into the prayer box, that come in to the prayer line or that are written on contribution envelopes in the Sunday service.  In addition, they meet with individuals who want one on one prayer after the Sunday service and by phone during the week when requested.  To join the Prayer Ministry you need to take the prayer ministry training with Rev. Phillip, to be a member of the church and have attended a Unity church for at least one year.

Sharing Unity Ministry
I would like to serve in sharing Unity with newcomers.

This ministry is present on Sunday mornings and at any major community event to share information with visitors who desire it, about Unity Spiritual Center.  They have a place at the activities table where they can answer questions and give useful information beyond the normal visitor's packets to guests who want them. 

Social Ministry
I would like to serve in activity coordination.

This ministry promotes a friendly, loving atmosphere where everyone can become better acquainted and share the joy of fellowship at Unity Spiritual Center.  This group coordinates and plans social events such as potlucks, picnics, parties and dances, group trips etc.

Special Services Ministry
I would like to serve during special holidays and events.

This ministry handles the special needs for the special services throughout the year--Easter, Christmas, Burning Bowl etc.  Works with the minister and office staff to handle special set up needs and preparations for these services.

Sunday Services Ministry
I would like to serve in the Sunday services.

The purpose of this ministry is to see it that both guests and long time members feel welcomed in a warm, loving and friendly manner on Sunday mornings.  This ministry includes greeters who welcome EACH person to our services, and activities volunteers, who are present at the activities desk and answer questions about upcoming events and collect money from people signing up for the events.

Ushering Ministry
I would like to serve as an usher.

Our ushers greet you at the sanctuary doors, hand out your bulletins, seat latecomers, give out visitor's packets during the service, collect the love offering and see that the sanctuary is cleaned up (collecting bulletins) after the service.  They help set the tone for the Sunday service and are vital to our ministry.

Visitors Guides
I would like to serve by welcoming new visitors.

This ministry sees to it that each visitor is warmly welcomed after the service--finding them and taking them to the front of the line to greet Phillip and getting them a complimentary refreshment in the Café if they desire, showing them the bookstore, the prayer chapel and answering their questions about Unity Spiritual Center.

Youth Empowerment Ministry
I would like to serve in the youth ministry.

We believe "the children are our future" and truly angels among us.  Our Youth Empowerment Ministry is made up of dedicated teachers and assistants who follow a powerful curriculum designed to bring the Unity message to our young people in an age appropriate way.
